Vocal Technique
Free and Supported
Elaine teaches a free, supported vocal technique that engages the entire body. She works with students to sing on the breath with a supported tone. When open throat is understood in a buoyant and flexible way, students are able to sing in a spontaneous manner that allows them the freedom to be connected dramatically to text and deliver an engaging performance. All of her students are guided to a technique that allows them the freedom to express themselves, regardless of the style of music — musical theatre, classical, pop, jazz, etc.
Voice Studio Policies & Practices
Be Prompt
Please arrive at least 5 minutes before your lesson time. Students are encouraged to come early or stay after their lesson to listen and learn from other students.
Record Your Lesson
Keep a personal JOURNAL of technique and ideas from each lesson. A tape recorder and iPhone dock can be provided.
24-Hour Cancellation
Ms. Fox requires 24 hours advance notice if a student needs to cancel or reschedule a lesson. If a student fails to provide 24 hours notice, the student will be charged for the scheduled lesson. Ms. Fox will reschedule any lesson within the week it is cancelled if given 24-hour advance notice and there is a time available.
Weather
In the event of severe weather, Ms. Fox will continue to teach. Coming to the lesson is left to the student/parent. If you feel comfortable driving to the lesson, we will continue as scheduled. If not, the lesson will be rescheduled.
